Laurel has extensive experience performing both solo and in bands, both original music and covers.

Currently, you can find her playing her original songs, either solo, as part of a duo, or with a full backing band, simply under her first and last name. She is also 1/6 of the multi-city ensemble The North Country, of which she has been an active member since 2016, contributing complex vocal layers and delicious keyboard and synth tones. In addition, she has a lengthy repertoire of covers that she sings and plays on accordion or piano, and performs regularly at cafes, markets, weddings, breweries, and the like. She performs and records with the Joshua Curry band, as well, and participates in other projects as opportunities arise.

Like many musicians, Laurel got her start through school, singing in choirs and studying voice and piano. She eventually began performing in open mics, crafting piano arrangements of beloved covers. She picked up the accordion along the way, and in 2011 joined her first band, Oust, in Washington, DC. In 2014, she started collaborating with various DC musicians to perform her original tunes under the moniker Laurel Rose. From 2017 to 2021, she fronted the indie pop trio Bal Boheme, releasing two EPs that garnered comparisons to Tennis, The Flamingos, and Regina Spektor.
